Since then, it's been all metal all the time, but I'll always have a soft spot for Hybrid Theory, Trapt, and Nirvana. After Linkin Park, I got into Trapt, Blink 182, Slipknot, and Drowning Pool until I started looking for something heavier and with more musicianship. This was actually the first CD I ever bought, after that I picked up Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" and since then have been a metalhead, though it took me a while to really understand it. It's obvious that these guys were going in a direction more influenced by rap, but even so they can still make some good aesthetic rock sound. That being said, after listening to so many styles of metal and listening to so many different types of music that I can analyze it now, Hybrid Theory is a very simple album where every element is more of a beat than creating a sound where each element can lead, follow, or be independent in the mix. Actually, I'm listening to it right now since seeing this topic come up. I mean Meteora was good as well, but Hybrid Theory was definitely the best thing the band could make.
